Brand new for 2008 Bay To Bay Bike MS Tour is the 30 mile route. While you may think 30 miles is a long distance, you will discover that it is not as far as you think it is. Most people ride an average of 9-10 mph, so if you imagine riding for 3-4 hours you would have rode at least 30 miles.
When training for the 30 mile route, the best thing you want to do is start slow and pace yourself. Once you get an idea of your personal stamina, you can increase your miles, speed and difficulty.
You should plan to ride at least for 30-45 minutes on the first few rides. It is suggested you start out with a short five mile route. Add 2-3 miles a week to your rides until your up to at least 20 miles. Once your comfortable riding 20 miles, you can add some difficulty to your ride. Add a few hills and a few more miles until your up to 30 miles.
You will find that it will be easy to reach 30 miles in no time. There are several routes in town that are relatively flat and are 15-20 miles or longer. Once your comfortable riding 20 miles, you can start riding parts of the official route.
